screen-shot-2016-09-08-at-10-04-15-amQcumber Studios has the perfect school holiday program for 9 – 14 year old students.  Our unique five (5) day film program gives students the opportunity to learn and explore digital media in an industry standard film studio with industry professionals.

The course incorporates all aspects of video making from video concept to shooting the video to producing final video product.  During the course the students will be provided the knowledge, tools and guidance to create a video submission for the Tropfest Kids Festival closing in October 2017.

Topics covered during the course includes the following:

  • Roles and responsibilities of crew members,
  • Essential film equipment,
  • The script :terminology and layout,
  • Camera shots:
  • Film: basic film elements,
  • Shooting schedules/Blocking and other documentation,
  • Equipment: operation and maintenance, hands on operation,
  • Lighting and audio,
  • Makeup and Props,
  • Special effects,
  • Editing: software and basic cuts/transitions:,
  • Encoding, final product, distribution,
  • Youtube, vimeo and other video platforms.


All students will be given the opportunity to act in the video and use all equipment in the studio.  This is a hands on course and the finished video product is required to be made solely by the students to satisfy the T’s and C’s of the Tropfest festival.

Staff are industry trained and qualified teachers and all hold working with children cards or higher.

Amanda Nella is the owner and operator of Qcumber Studios.  Her training began at Perth Technical College that later amalgamated with WAAPA.  She trained in Studio Production specialising in Lighting.  For a number of years she worked at predominate theatres in WA as a Lighting Designer, Lighting Technician, Floor Electrician, Stage Manager and Technical Manager.  In 2005 she started Bump to Baby films that later became B2B Film Productions.  This business was rebranded and relaunched in 2011 as Qcumber Studios.  Qcumber Studios is an industry standard film studio catering both state and national clients.

Claudia Renner is a professional and highly experienced educator.  With a wealth of  experience in all facets and levels of teaching.  She brings an incredible knowledge base to the Qcumber Program.  Claudia achieved the highest qualification as a Level 3 Teacher with the Department of Education.  She has worked in many facets of education from School Marketing, to Lecturing at University and holds an MBA.  She had worked in roles of Deputy Principal and as Principal of her own school.  At Qcumber Claudia is responsible for the lesson plan to ensure that not only do the students engage in an exciting and enjoyable program but that they learn and can take education away from the experience.
